Twin Air GNCC Rock Run Race Report
(6/6/11) – GNCC racing went to Patton, PA. for the firstrunning of the Rock Run. Conditions were favorable with dry and fast racingconditions. The Rock Run lived up to its name with plenty of rocks and technicalsections. Racers would be challenged all day by bottlenecks and stuck riders.
Twin Air sponsored Chris Borich would not let the technical circuit stop himfrom notching another win in the XC-1 Pro Class and extending his points lead. He made his way to the front early after a third place start. The two early front runners, Twin Air’s Brian Cook and Brent Sturdivant, would experience some issues that would allow Borich to take over the lead. Once out front the Twin Air rider would set the cruise control and take a comfortable win. “Winning the championship is my priority and it would have been nice to be on top of the podium, but I took the class win, so I am happy with that for now,” said Borich.
Twin Air sponsored Can-Am/Warnert Racing riders Adam McGill and Chris Bithell would see their races start towards the back of the field. Early in the race the Can-Am riders would be eleventh and twelfth. The Twin Air riders would battle hard all day and eventually finish in the fourth and fifth positions. Bottlenecks and a late crash in the race affected their abilities to finish higher.
In the A.M. racing action it was more of the same for Cliff Beasley. The Twin Air sponsored rider has now won an unprecedented 25 consecutive GNCC races. He pulled away early and won the race with nearly an eight minute lead. He can wrap up the U2 class championship with another win at Snow Shoe. Twin Air’s Brian Buckhannon would take his third victory in the 4×4 Open class and pull within three points of class leader and Twin Air sponsored Michael Swift who finished fifth on the day after a mishap on the course left his ATV damaged. Twin Air’s Mike Penland secured his first win of the season in the Super Senior class.
The GNCC series heads to Snow Shoe West Virginia for the next round of racing. Look for Twin Air sponsored riders to be at the front as the battle continues for the 2011 GNCC Championship.
